We first alerted you to Adidas' new muse-by-Zubaz uniform styles for six specific programs last week. In the aftermath, I still haven't been able to get all the puke out of my carpet.
On Wednesday, UCLA star freshman guard Shabazz Muhammad -- who is almost definitely going pro once the Bruins' season is over -- posed for a shot in UCLA's new threads and put it on Instagram. That's UCLA senior guard Larry Drew II, at left, posing as well. (Drew II is enjoying a very nice final year/redemption story.)
So, in case you needed that reminder of how college basketball's uniform situation is headed into a disaster zone. Here it is. Truth be told, I don't haaaaaate the sleeve look; it's the stripey stripes that get to me.
I'll always be loyal to the traditional multicolor shoulder loop with matching waistband look, though. Classic, classy, the way a basketball uniform should always be.
UCLA plays Wednesday night at Washington State, but it won't wear these until the Pac-12 tournament in Vegas next week.
And as you can see, plenty of Muhammad's Instagram followers aren't in love with the look. Most aren't. But this is what shoe companies have done to the most prestigious programs. Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke: you're next.
