Pizza Hut to give away free pies if Wichita State wins it all

Aside from this Final Four run, what's Wichita, Kan., most known for? Well, a few things, like Wyatt Earp, Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers and devotion to aviation.

But in terms of business, it's Pizza Hut, which was founded in Wichita in 1958 by a pair of brothers who attended the university. The original Hut house still stands and, as you can see, it's resembles something much closer to a cheap off-campus house than a restaurant. But it was built five and a half decades ago.

So in honor of Wichita State's surprising run to this year's Final Four, the franchise has announced that the original Pizza Hut (which was moved onto the campus in 1986 in honor of the founders, Frank and Dan Carney) will give away free pizzas to all students -- if Wichita State wins the title.

Free food and college kids. That's the life. And if WSU wins the whole thing, Pizza Hut is saying it will sell $9 pies (because of the Shockers' No. 9 seed) to the nation in light of the national title. Seems like a good promotion and savvy PR. And if WSU does pull off the improbable, I'm thinking the parade route has to end ... here.

This is the restaurant. The gray door really sells the whole thing. (via Pizza Hut people)
