NCAA releases Consensus All-America teams

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

The NCAA released it's consensus All-America teams on Tuesday, meaning these are the rosters for the record books. Using the All-America teams from four sources -- the Associated Press, Sporting News, the United States Basketball Writers Association the National Association of Basketball Coaches -- the NCAA draws a conclusion on who was voted on to the first and second teams.

This is just one of many such lists, but for NCAA purposes it's the only one that takes into consideration four major voting services, so by its nature aims to be the best representation of the best college basketball players in a given year.

That said, it's still shocking to me that Russ Smith isn't on this list. Here are your Consensus First and Second Team All-Americans.

First Team

Trey Burke, Michigan, 6-0, So.

Doug McDermott, Creighton, 6-8, Jr.

Victor Oladipo, Indiana, 6-5, Jr.

Kelly Olynyk, Gonzaga, 7-0, Jr.

Otto Porter Jr., Georgetown, 6-8, So.

Second Team

Ben McLemore, Kansas, 6-5, Fr.

Mason Plumlee, Duke, 6-10, Sr.

Marcus Smart, Oklahoma St., 6-4, Fr.

Jeff Withey, Kansas, 7-0, Sr.

Cody Zeller, Indiana, 7-0, So.

So, yeah, only one of these players is still playing ball. Burke will go for a title in Atlanta. And how about only two freshmen, and also two seniors? Interesting.

The others-receiving-votes category is as follows: Allen Crabbe, California, Seth Curry, Duke, Erick Green, Virginia Tech, Shane Larkin, Miami (FL), Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA, Russ Smith, Louisville, Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State, Nate Wolters, South Dakota State.
