Saint Louis expected to lift interim tag off Crews

By Jeff Goodman | College Basketball Insider

Saint Louis is expected to remove the interim tag from Jim Crews.

According to a source close to the program, the school could make an official announcement before the Final Four.

Crews, 59, was brought on board by the late Rick Majerus, and sources told CBSSports.com that neither he nor the administration had any thoughts of making him the head coach until the Billikens finished 28-7 and won the A-10 regular-season and tournament titles. Saint Louis was knocked out of the NCAA tournament in the Round of 32 by Oregon.

Crews played on the 1976 Indiana national title team and made previous head coaching stops at Evansville and Army.

Saint Louis will lose seniors Kwamain Mitchell, Cody Ellis and Cory Remekun off this past year's team.
