Michigan point guard Trey Burke wins John R. Wooden Award

ATLANTA -- Whether Trey Burke leaves this southern city with a national title remains undetermined. But, win or lose on the court, the Michigan point guard will return to Ann Arbor with the John R. Wooden Award, the Los Angeles Athletic Club has announced.

Burke has also won the AP and Oscar Robertson awards.

"Great accomplishments," Burke said. "But my teammates and coaching staff, you know, they put me in this position. I wouldn't be able to receive those awards without them. I wouldn't even be in that talk."

Burke is averaging 18.8 points and 6.8 assists heading into Saturday night's Final Four matchup with Michael Carter-Williams and Syracuse here at the Georgia Dome. The sophomore received 2,808 points in the Wooden Award balloting, just 90 points more than Indiana's Victor Oladipo. Creighton's Doug McDermott finished third. Georgetown's Otto Porter and Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk were fourth and fifth, respectively.
