The best photos from the 2012-13 college basketball season

I've pared and narrowed and slimmed this down as best I could. What remains are the best photos from college hoops this season, at least in my humble estimation. Trimming this to fewer than 30 shots was fun and torturous; there's just too many good photogs working the sidelines these days. It's a good problem.

So, enjoy. I'm trying to string out the season's end as long as possible. No major American sport's offseason is as long as college basketball's. The withdrawal has already well begun. Let's glance back at five months, through photos.

And, for a longer view, here are the best from November, December, January, March and April. Due to a friggin' computer crash in late February, I lost all the photos from our shortest month.

Until next season, here goes.

Ramstein U.S. Air Force Base, in Germany, on Nov. 10, when UConn played Michigan State. Let's do this kind of thing again. (Michael Probst/AP)

Easily one of the year's best. San Diego State guard Chase Tapley, center, sets to shoot as Syracuse defends on the deck of the USS Midway. This doesn't even look real. (Gregory Bull/AP)

Marquette and Ohio State never got to play, due to dew. What a disaster this one was. Just look at this scene. (Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

Love this one of John Calipari during player introductions of Kentucky's game against Morehead State. (Mark Zerof/USATSI)

Kids go nuts near the end of a Syracuse win over Colgate. Half of them will do the same thing, only drunk, in these stands approximately 10 years from now. (Nate Shron/Getty Images)

Mason Plumlee goes parallel, arm to arm, with Ohio State's Aaron Craft. Really opportune pic. (Gerry Broome/AP)

After his death, Utah honored Rick Majerus, with a chair courtside, draped with one of his cream sweaters. (Steve Griffin/Salt Lake Tribune)

Three-dimensional bigheads changed the game. I remain confused and mesmerized. (Isaac Brekken/AP)

The Shaka Crouch! Few coaches are as lissome and active on the sideline as Smart. (VCU Athletics)

Tennessee AD Dave Hart, left, stands with Pat Summitt, her mom, Hazel Head, and future daughter-in-law, AnDe Ragsdale, as a banner in Summitt's honor was raised. (Wade Payne/AP)

This is just sweet. Creighton's fractal geography-like mid-game huddle. (Eric Francis/Getty Images)

Great shot of Phog Allen during Kansas' Jan. 6 game vs. Temple. See the sun hitting the fans? (Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

College hoops had a blackout of its own, in January at the Tad Pad in Mississippi. (Nelson Chenault/USATSI)

Mike Krzyzewski goes after Roger Ayers after a T was called on Rasheed Sulaimon. (Chuck Liddy/Getty Images)

Ben McLemore huffs into the net to prevent himself from flying through it. (Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

Sherwood Brown embraces the FGCU fans after beating Georgetown. I love the Coast Guard flags. (Matt Slocum/AP)

The biggest shot taken and made in the 2013 NCAAs. Trey Burke, for the tie. (David J. Phillip/AP)

Celebrate angry, Gregg Marshall. You made the Final Four. (Richard Mackson/USATSI)

Photography is supposed to provide accurate depiction. Never more so than here, Harvard band. (George Frey/AP)

The photog, Darron Cummings, should win an award for this one. Kevin Ware and the team after the gruesome fall. (Darron Cummings/AP)

An incredible shot of the block here, Trey Burke rejecting Peyton Siva -- and getting called for a foul. (Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)
