Michigan State's Gary Harris returning to school

Gary Harris has decided to return for his sophomore season at Michigan State, a source told on Thursday.

The school subsequently confirmed the news. reported this week that Harris was "definitely leaning" toward returning to Michigan State, and he settled on doing that in recent days. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 12.9 points as a freshman while helping the Spartans to 27 wins and a trip to the Sweet 16. He would have been a projected lottery pick in June's NBA Draft had he made himself available, according to most analysts.

"Playing in the NBA is definitely a goal of mine and something that I've always dreamed of, but those dreams can wait for another day," Harris said in a statement released by the school. "I think additional experience and maturity will be huge in my development as a player. I have other dreams of things I want to accomplish, both as a player and as a team at Michigan State. I love college life, and I'm no hurry to move on."

Now Michigan State waits for Adreian Payne's announcement. A source said the junior big is "50-50" about entering the draft. He averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds this season. His return would keep the Spartans at No. 2 in the preseason Top 25 (and one).

The deadline to announce is April 28.
