Ahmad Starks transferring from Oregon State

By Jeff Goodman | College Basketball Insider

Oregon State junior point guard Ahmad Starks confirmed to CBSSports.com that he has received his release and will transfer closer to his home in Chicago.

The 5-foot-8 Starks, who averaged 10.4 points per game last season, said he will apply for a medical hardship waiver due to the health of his grandmother.

This could be a critical blow to Craig Robinson and the Beavers, who finished 14-18 last season and 4-14 in Pac-12 play. Robinson will need to show significant improvement next season to keep his job, sources told CBSSports.com.

Oregon State still has plenty of talent, and Starks was an enigma at times, but don't have a proven guard who can run the team. The Beavers, though, still have Roberto Nelson, Eric Moreland and Devon Collier -- and will also bring back Angus Brandt and Daniel Gomis.
