Document shows Eddie Jordan never identified himself as a 'graduate'

Rutgers was back in the news last Friday for more wrong reasons -- specifically that its new basketball coach, Eddie Jordan, is not a graduate of Rutgers or any other university.

Deadspin.com broke the story.

Rutgers and Jordan later confirmed it.

Still, there were some questions, one of which was whether Jordan had misled his alma mater and/or ever identified himself as a college graduate. The Newark Star-Ledger reported last Friday that Jordan never actually provided a resume to the school, just a biography of sorts. On Thursday, CBSSports.com, via an open records request, obtained that biography, and it should be noted that Jordan never identified himself, in any place, as a college graduate. The biography merely calls Rutgers Jordan's "alma mater," which is technically true because an "alma mater" is defined as "a school, college, or university which one has attended or from which one has graduated."

Jordan did attend Rutgers.

So Rutgers is his alma mater.

Bottom line, it appears Jordan's biggest crime, if we can call it that, is that he failed to volunteer that he's not a Rutgers graduate. He just let people assume that he was, which was fine ... right up until last Friday afternoon, when we learned, you know, that he's not a graduate of Rutgers or anywhere else.
