Playing for his third team in four years will not mean Ryan Harrow has to sit another season.

Georgia State announced Wednesday that the 22-year-old point guard was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, so he'll be on the court for the Panthers in the fall. He'll be a junior. He transfered to Georgia State to be closer to his ill father; the family lives in Atlanta. In 2010, Harrow was named Georgia's Gatorade Player of the Year.

Harrow began his career at NC State, where he played for one season before taking a redshirt year and then spending the 2012-13 season with Kentucky. He started 24 games for UK last season, scoring 9.9 points and dishing 2.8 assists per game.

Harrow was a five-star, top-20 national prospect in the class of 2010. It's fair to say his college career has been a relative disappointment so far, but heading to Georgia State could be giving Harrow the chance that he needs and an environment affordable for him to thrive. The Panthers just moved back to the Sun Belt after spending eight years in the Colonial Athletic Association.

“I am really excited for Ryan and his family,” coach Ron Hunter said in a statement. “There is no doubt this will be a huge boost for our team as Ryan is an extremely talented player. He has been working hard not knowing if he would be eligible or not and, I have no doubt, will work even harder now knowing that he will get to play this season."

Georgia State went 15-16 last season.
