Hall-of-Famer Jerry Tarkanian has spent most of the past two weeks in the hospital, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The legendary former UNLV coach, now 82, spent 11 days in a San Diego hospital because of clogged arteries and to have a pacemaker installed, per the report. Danny Tarkanian, Jerry's son, told the AP his father was due to leave Scripps Memorial Hospital Wednesday.

"He's doing well and we're glad to get him back home," Danny Tarkanian told the AP.

Tarkanian's health has been deteriorating in recent years; he had a heart attack in March of 2012 and has often seen in public in a wheelchair. Tarkanian won 784 games in his career, 509 at UNLV, where he won the 1990 national championship. He's considered by many within the game to be a transcendent coaching figure.

On Sept. 8, Tarkanian will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, an honor that became official in April and one many have said was years overdue.

UNLV announced in the spring its plans to erect a statue of Tarkanian, typically in pose, sitting and with a towel in his mouth.
