In the past two years, Battle 4 Atlantis has quickly become the inter-ocean rival to the Maui Invitational. Held at Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas, the fledgling November tournament has recruited the likes of UConn, Florida State, Louisville, Duke, Missouri and Memphis to its event.
On Monday, the 2013 field was released. And, drum roll please, the teams for 2013's tourney are: Kansas, Villanova, Xavier, Iowa, Tennessee, USC, Wake Forest and UTEP.
The tournament runs Nov. 28-30 with games on the NBC Sports Network and AXS.tv.
Solid field, but not quite the loaded litany of clubs that 2012 brought. Kansas will have Andrew Wiggins, 2013's top prospect, so it's the automatic must-see team here. Chances are the Jayhawks will be a top-10 team in the rankings by that point, too. They take on Wake Forest on Thanksgiving.
Tennessee, at last look, was a top-20 team in our offseason rankings. And Iowa's got a shot of being in the polls by the time this tournament gets underway. UTEP remains interesting given recent events at that school dealing with Isaac Hamilton, an incoming five-star freshman who's said he no longer wants to play under Tim Floyd.
Here's the bracket in full.
