Report: Duke F Hood 'completely recovered' from Achilles strain

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Duke forward Rodney Hood is said to have recovered from an Achilles injury that forced him to leave USA Basketball training in June, ESPN.com reported Tuesday morning.

The injury happened at tryouts for July's World University Games. Early reports suggested Hood had torn his right Achilles tendon, but subsequent testing by Duke medical staff showed the tendon was not torn, but strained. The Durham Herald-Sun reported the redshirt sophomore would miss 4 to 6 weeks with the injury.

Duke associate coach Steve Wojciechowski said, "He is completely recovered," per Andy Katz's report. "He has participated in summer workouts."

The 6-foot-8 Hood played one year at Mississippi State, averaging 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2 assists and earning SEC All-Freshman honors. He transferred after the 2011-12 season and sat out last season because of the move.
