VIDEO: Jacked Florida C Patric Young gives football a try

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

There is no specimen in college basketball as immediately physically noticeable as Florida's Patric Young. The Gators center, now a senior, had a promising future coming out of high school, but his college career has been irregular, and thus a guy who looks like that is still on scholarship and finishing out college basketball.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

But if a basketball career at the pro level isn't now what it once seemed to be (Young is not prognosticated to be a 2014 first-round draft pick by many), maybe football? Young is listed at 6-9, 240 pounds. He's as cut as any tight end in the NFL right now, and the list of former college hoopsters who've made a living playing tight end in the NFL grows every few years.

In the video above, fellow Gators Trey Burton, Tyler Murphy and Cody Riggs give Young a few lessons. Can you imagine this guy at tight end? If he could consistently catch the ball, it'd be an interesting route to consider.

Combine this with those impressive Florida workout routines we saw last week, and at the very least Young should be in the best shape -- basketball and football -- of his life this season.

Now I wonder if Gators football coach Will Muschamp has considered putting Young on the field to block field goals. If Billy Donovan allowed it, why wouldn't he?
