Well-traveled big man Aaric Murray to end career at Texas Southern

When Aaric Murray was dismissed from West Virginia last month, it was unclear whether he would look for another school or simply turn to the professional ranks.

It turns out Murray is heading to Texas Southern, USA Today reported on Thursday night.

"Aaric Murray will be a big addition to our team and he will give us a chance to compete at the highest level of the SWAC," head coach Mike Davis told the paper.

Texas Southern will be the third school for Murray, a 6-foot-11 big man from Pennsylvania. Before West Virginia, Murray attended La Salle for two seasons before being dismissed. He averaged 8.8 points and 5.9 rebounds at West Virginia, but put up 15.2 points and 7.7 boards during his sophomore season at La Salle.

Murray has plenty of talent, but he hasn't fulfilled his potential just yet.

"Publicly, there are tons of expectations of what I should be," Murray told the paper. "This however is the best opportunity I have in efforts of reaching my full potential. In addition, anything that can be done in college basketball can be done at Texas Southern."

The Tigers went 16-2 in the SWAC last season, but were banned from postseason play. Because he graduated in the spring, Murray can suit up immediately.
