Siena loses Evan Hymes to a broken hand for approximately six weeks

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Siena junior point guard Evan Hymes broke his hand earlier this week, according to the school's website. The Saints are wrapping up a trip in Montreal, where they have been playing exhibition games. Hymes' injury came Sunday.

The injury is a break to his right hand, the fifth metacarpal. He could miss as much as six weeks, according to the team trainer. That would mean time missed for the start of practices, but he should be good to go by the time the season rolls around in early November. Hymes played well in the two exhibitions before his injury, scoring in double digits and dishing out a few assists and snaring four rebounds in the team's first win.

The 5-foot-8 Hymes averaged 10.6 points and 3.7 assists last season. Siena finished 8-24 last year, leading to the dismissal of head coach Mitch Buonaguro. Former Loyola (Md.) coach Jimmy Patsos is now coaching the club.
