VCU forward Jarred Guest out 6-8 weeks with ankle injury

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

VCU forward Jarred Guest dislocated his ankle during a workout earlier this week, the school confirmed to on Thursday.

The injury is expected to sideline Guest for six to eight weeks.

With that timetable, Guest should be healthy for the start of the season. The Rams open their season on Nov. 8 against Illinois State, before heading on the road to face Virginia on Nov. 12.

Guest, a 6-foot-8 junior, averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.5 minutes last season. He saw double-figure minutes in each of the final eight games of the season, including a six-rebound effort in the blowout win over Akron in the NCAA tournament.

VCU has a variety of options in the frontcourt, and Guest was expected to provide depth down low. Senior Juvonte Reddic was a dominant force last season for the Rams, while Florida State transfer Terrance Shannon should make an impact.
