Georgia Southern star Eric Ferguson to redshirt 2013-14 season

Georgia Southern forward Eric Ferguson will redshirt the 2013-14 season, sources confirmed to

Ferguson underwent knee surgery in April and has one year of eligibility remaining with the Eagles.

The 6-foot-7 forward was one of the most productive players in the Southern Conference last season, averaging 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds while becoming a more versatile offensive threat.

Georgia Southern will enter the fall with a new head coach, as Charlton Young was fired after going 43-84 in four seasons. The school replaced him with Virginia Tech assistant Mark Byington, who also coached at Charleston for nine seasons.
