Iowa State jettisons Bubu Palo for student conduct violation

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Iowa State cut ties with guard Bubu Palo over the holiday weekend, the team announced.

Palo was suspended from the team last year after a second-degree sexual assault charge was brought in September of 2012. He was brought back on to the team in January after the charge was dropped. A recent appeal of that decision (by the school's Office of Judicial Affairs) led to the verdict that Palo violated student conduct code in regard to the aforementioned incident, thus he was again punished, this time permanently.

The decision was effectively out of the hands of ISU basketball coach Fred Hoiberg and the athletic department.

Palo, a senior, averaged 2.8 points in 12.5 minutes following his suspension last season.
