One of the more intriguing players to watch heading into the 2013-14 season will be Louisville guard Kevin Ware. As everyone knows, Ware broke his leg in last season's Elite Eight win over Duke – but he's recovering quicker than expected from his gruesome injury.

To add to the interest were recent rumors regarding Ware's status with the Cardinals.

On Monday, head coach Rick Pitino cleared everything up.

First, those rumors.

“Kevin Ware was never suspended from our basketball team,” Pitino said, according to Louisville's Scout.com affiliate. “Nobody is suspended from our basketball team. I've been having way too much fun this summer to suspend anyone.”

Next, his recovery and timetable for a return.

“It's going to be a while before he gets on the basketball court,” Pitino said. “This is a very serious injury. We're going to take our time with him. I'm not saying we are going to redshirt him, but we are going to take our time.”

Pitino also said that Ware is still moving along well in his rehab.

Because Louisville is so loaded on the perimeter, there is no reason to rush Ware back onto the court. All-American guard Russ Smith is back, while Junior College Player of the Year Chris Jones and five-star guard Terry Rozier will be welcomed into the fold. Top-50 shooting guard Anton Gill will also be added to the mix.

Expect the Cardinals to open the season ranked in the top three nationally, along with Kentucky and Michigan State.
