Former Fresno State big Robert Upshaw headed to Washington

Former Fresno State big man Robert Upshaw is heading to Washington, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com.

Upshaw, a 7-footer from California, was dismissed from Fresno State in August. He visited both Washington and Oregon, and – despite rumors that he committed to the Ducks over the weekend – seems destined to join the Huskies.

"I had a nice visit with both Washington and Oregon," Upshaw told ESPN.com. "I just felt like Washington was a better fit for me as a player. I liked it there, I felt comfortable and am looking forward to a new start."

Upshaw will have to sit out the 2013-14 season, but will have three years of eligibility remaining with Washington.

The former top-75 recruit averaged 4.1 points and 3.8 rebounds last season for the Bulldogs.

ESPN.com first reported the news.
