Kentucky's John Calipari after first practice: 'We have so far to go'

Did you realize Sunday was the first day that college teams could practice together?

It's true.

Coaches are allowed two hours this week to work with their entire rosters at the same time after previously being limited to groups of four players. Among the men who spent his two hours as soon as possible was Kentucky's John Calipari. I know because he posted a video about it at CoachCal.com.

"I got right off the plane, walked right in the gym and said, 'This is what I live for -- being in this gym, coaching basketball, bringing a team together,'" Calipari said in a video that lasted nearly three minutes. "A couple of times I had to tell them, 'Do you understand I'm not afraid to coach you as a team?' We have so far to go."

Kentucky will be most people's preseason No. 1.

UK has a recruiting class featuring a record six McDonald's All-Americans.
