Tom Izzo addresses dismissals of Korie Lucious, Chris Allen

Korie Lucious and Chris Allen haven't been in the Michigan State program since the 2010-11 season, but Spartans head coach Tom Izzo was asked about the two players during a radio show on Tuesday.

Why? Well, last week, Lucious admitted to smoking weed while at Michigan State – and that was the reason Izzo let him go.

“I was smoking, I don't want to tell a lot of people that, but I was smoking a lot of weed at Michigan State,” Lucious told blackathlete.net. “That's the reason I got kicked off the team and I let my mom, family and friends down.”

Meanwhile, Allen took to Facebook in July to address why he was dismissed from the program.

“It was because of Smoking the MARYJUWANA . . . to athletes who smoke WEED its not worth it, Yeah it makes you happy and forget all the BS . . . but at the same time it's an easy way to get you out of a respectable program,” Allen wrote, in part.

As a result, Izzo went on the radio on Tuesday and the topic of Lucious and Allen was brought up.

According to Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal, here is what Izzo said:

“I probably let them down. Everybody lets everybody down. But first of all, I thought it was ridiculous that now we're reporting on websites, you know? I guess that's the way it turned, that's what I was told. But I didn't talk to Korie. I talked to Chris a lot. Because Chris has left, he's matured a little bit, he's grown up and tried to come back and apologize for things.”

Lucious and Allen both transferred to Iowa State after being dismissed, with each player averaging double-figures in Ames. Lucious is now playing professionally in Poland.
