J.J. Moore granted waiver to play immediately for Rutgers

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

Pittsburgh transfer J.J. Moore was granted a waiver and can play immediately this season for Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights announced on Thursday.

After a tumultuous offseason, the news has brightened for Rutgers basketball during the month of September. Earlier this month, Iowa State transfer Kerwin Okoro was granted a waiver to play immediately, and now Moore can join the group.

Moore, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Long Island, averaged 8.0 points in 18.7 minutes during his junior season at Pittsburgh. He's a good offensive player, capable of knocking down shots from the perimeter, or using his strength to get to the rim and finish. He should slide into the small forward spot in head coach Eddie Jordan's starting lineup, alongside the backcourt duo of Myles Mack and Jerome Seagears. Returnees Wally Judge and Kadeem Jack will join Moore up front.

Rutgers is still awaiting an NCAA ruling on incoming freshman Junior Etou.
