James Madison suspends Andre Nation for 15 games

James Madison sophomore Andre Nation has been suspended for the first 15 games of the season due to a violation of athletic department policy.

The school did not divulge any further details.

“We're disappointed in Andre's actions, and we hope that he learns a life lesson, that he is part of something greater than himself and is accountable to his team and to the entire JMU community,” head coach Matt Brady said in a statement.

Nation, a 6-foot-5 guard from Florida, came on strong down the stretch of last season, seemingly poised for a breakout campaign in 2013-14. He has terrific size for his position, and he knows how to handle the ball, run the break and create for others. Moreover, he's one of the best defenders in the CAA.

He proved to be a matchup nightmare in the first round of last season's NCAA tournament, going for 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five blocked shots against LIU Brooklyn.

Now, Nation won't be able to appear until Jan. 7 against Charleston.
