Oakland guard Bass leaves team

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

In a two-sentence statement on Tuesday, Oakland announced that senior guard Ryan Bass is leaving the team.

The school provided no details, other than saying it was for “reasons unrelated to his athletic participation or academic performance.”

Bass, a 5-foot-9 guard from Dayton, averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season for the Golden Grizzlies.

Oakland returns three starters from last season's team, including Travis Bader, one of the best scorers and shooters in the country. He averaged 22.1 points, while double-double threat Corey Petros and point guard Duke Mondy are also back for head coach Greg Kampe.

The Golden Grizzlies, which finished fourth in the Summit and are now in the Horizon League, open their season at North Carolina on Nov. 8.
