Stanford Robinson becomes third injured Indiana freshman

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Indiana freshman Stanford Robinson is out indefinitely after hurting his right knee Friday night at IU's Hoosier Hysteria.

Robinson has already begun treatment/daily evaluation, according to an Indiana press release, and is now the third Indiana freshman in the last month to get injured. Troy Williams, a forward, hurt his right hand; center Luke Fischer did damage to his left shoulder (sprain). Both are on the shelf for the next couple of weeks.

According to 247 Sports, "team doctor and orthopedic surgeon Steve Ahlfeld assessed Robinson's injury after the scrimmage and found nothing damaged structurally, according to Crean. 'The early thought would be, from in there, that it's a bruise. I say that hopefully. I say that as what was said in there,' Crean said. Looked like everything was intact. I hope that that's what it continues to be. Dr. Ahlfeld was on it right away. … (Robinson) was in a lot of pain, but I mean, those hurt like that.”

IU has a very solid freshman class that could have impact in keeping the Hoosiers in the top 25 nationally. Tom Crean's team still has question marks in the starting lineup, but if his freshmen are all healthy in time for the start of the season, the Hoosiers could have some depth as they rebuild following a 2012-13 of high expectations that ended with a 29-7 record and a loss in the Sweet 16 to Syracuse

IU starts its season Nov. 8 against Chicago State.
