Five-star wing Kelly Oubre picks Kansas over Kentucky

Class of 2014 star Kelly Oubre announced Tuesday that he will play at Kansas.

"Blessed to say that I have committed to Kansas," Oubre tweeted.

Oubre chose Kansas over a list of suitors -- most notably Kentucky. 247 Sports ranks Oubre as the fourth-best prospect in the Class of 2014. The 6-foot-7 wing visited KU over the weekend and was sold on the idea of being the replacement for Andrew Wiggins -- the top prospect in the Class of 2013 who will almost certainly leave after one season.

"Of course [Wiggins is] going to the league [after this year], so they just need another big wing to come in and just fill that spot," Oubre told SNY.tv. "[Kansas coach Bill Self] pretty much told me everything's there for me."

Oubre is the first Class of 2014 prospect to commit to Kansas. The Jayhawks remain involved with several other high-profile targets -- among them Jahlil Okafor, Myles Turner, Tyus Jones and Cliff Alexander, the latter of whom said earlier Tuesday that he will announce his college decision on Nov. 20. Alexander is down to DePaul, Illinois, Kansas, Memphis and Michigan State.
