Texas A&M starting PG J-Mychal Reese suspended

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

Texas A&M will be without its starting point guard for the beginning of the season.

Sophomore J-Mychal Reese was suspended on Monday night, for violating athletic department rules and regulations.

“He's got to learn from it, grow from it and move on,” head coach Billy Kennedy told Brent Zwerneman of the San Antonio Express-News.

There was no timetable given by the university for the suspension, although Zwerneman reports that it's expected to be around three games. The Aggies open their season on Nov. 8 against Buffalo, followed by home games against Mississippi Valley State, Rice and Prairie View A&M.

Reese, a 6-foot-1 point guard, started 25 games last season. He averaged 6.2 points and 1.9 assists, while shooting 36.4 percent from 3-point range. Without Reese for Wednesday's exhibition against UT-Permian Basin, Texas A&M went with Alex Caruso and Fabyon Harris in the backcourt; Caruso is the better passer and ball-handler.
