One down, one to go?
In the eyes of many, it's been a quiet start to the 2014 recruiting class for Kentucky, with only two commits under its belt. However, Thursday is shaping up to be a key day for the Wildcats.
Devin Booker, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Moss Point (Miss.), committed to Kentucky on Thursday.
Thursday night, fellow four-star shooting guard James Blackmon will announce his decision. The former Indiana commit was thought to be a Kentucky lean, but Indiana has made up plenty of ground following a visit to Bloomington this past weekend. Michigan is also right there.
As for Booker, he's one of the best shooters in the class of 2014. Ranked No. 26 in the 247Sports Composite, Booker has excellent mechanics on his jumper and is deadly when left open behind the arc. He has decent size and strength, despite lacking explosive quickness. The son of former Missouri star Melvin Booker, this four-star prospect also has a solid basketball IQ and plays effectively within an offense.
Booker joins five-star forward Karl Towns and top-50 point guard Tyler Ulis in John Calipari's 2014 recruiting class. The relationship between Ulis and Booker was a big factor in the Wildcats landing Booker.
Next up on Kentucky's wish list is Blackmon. We will see in a matter of hours whether Kentucky is set on the perimeter for the 2014-15 season.
