Former UTEP signee Isaac Hamilton has his NLI appeal denied

Isaac Hamilton's appeal designed to void his national letter of intent with UTEP was denied Thursday, meaning the UCLA student will not be allowed to play for the Bruins this season.

UCLA announced the development Thursday afternoon.

Hamilton is a McDonald's All-American from California who signed with UTEP last November but ultimately decided not to enroll. He asked UTEP for a release. But UTEP coach Tim Floyd refused the request, which led to Hamilton's formal appeal (that was also denied). Consequently, Hamilton will now be allowed to practice but not play this season. He'll be eligible for the Bruins in 2014-15 and have three years of eligibility remaining.
