The NCAA has approved Baylor's waiver on Royce O'Neale - he's eligible for the 2013-14 season. #SicEm— Baylor Basketball (@BaylorMBB) October 31, 2013
That's a little piece of news that Baylor fans have been waiting to see and are no doubt happy to find.
Royce O'Neale is a transfer who played at Denver last season. He's 6-6, about 220 pounds and averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while with the Pioneers in 2012-13. The junior played as a combo between guard and forward for Denver last season, but should be a sturdy guard for the Bears going forward.
O'Neale opted to transfer out of Denver and be closer to his home of Killeen, Texas, due to an ill grandfather. And so the NCAA rewarded him with a hardship waiver.
Baylor was ranked No. 24 in our preseason Top 25 (and one) poll on CBSSports.com, and with O'Neale, it's reasonable to say the Bears can consistently be a top-20 team thanks to the boost.
