UNLV's Dejean-Jones out for opener

By Jon Rothstein | CBS Sports

UNLV's Bryce Dejean-Jones will miss Friday's opener against Portland State due to a hamstring injury, Runnin Rebels coach Dave Rice told CBSSports.com on Thursday morning.

Rice said there is no timetable for a return.

The 6-5 Dejean-Jones averaged 10.3 points per game last season and suffered the injury last week during an exhibition game vs. Dixie State.

Rice said Kevin Olekaibe would start in Dejean-Jones' place on Friday. The 6-2 Olekaibe scored 17 points and made four three-pointers in UNLV's exhibition win over Adams State on Tuesday night.

Rice also said that Khem Birch will return to the Runnin Rebels' lineup on tomorrow after sitting out against Adams State.
