Iowa's Josh Oglesby has a broken foot, will miss more than a month

By Matt Norlander | Staff Writer

Iowa will start its season Friday night against UNC Wilmington without the services of junior Josh Oglesby. The Hawkeyes' shooting guard broke his right foot during a Wednesday practice, and the school announced Friday he'll be out for approximately six weeks.

Surgery was scheduled for Friday, and if all is well, he'll be back by Christmas. Oglesby is a 3-point threat for Iowa, which has NCAA tournament aspirations this season. He played 37 games during the 2012-13 season for Fran McCaffery's team, averaging 4.5 points.

"Josh has played great in preseason practices and this is an unfortunate setback," McCaffery said in a statement. "We expect Josh to make a full recovery and look forward to him returning in time for conference play."

Iowa reached the finals of last year's NIT, finishing with a 25-13 record.
