Miami guard Burnett to miss season with wrist injury

By Jon Rothstein | CBS Sports

Miami freshman guard Deandre Burnett will miss the season after suffering a wrist injury last week in practice, the school announced last week. The The 6-foot-2 guard will redshirt and have four years of eligibility remaining beginning during the 2014-15 season.

The loss of Burnett is a big one for the rebuilding Hurricanes. Miami coach Jim Larranaga told a few weeks ago that Burnett was "competing for a starting spot," and resembled "another Durand Scott."

Miami is 0-1 after losing its opener in overtime on Friday to St. Francis (NY) and will host Georgia Southern on Monday night.
