Houston's Danrad "Chicken" Knowles has been cleared by the NCAA and will play Thursday vs. Texas-San Antonio, a source told CBSSports.com.

The 6-foot-10 Knowles is expected to be a major contributor for the Cougars, who will begin their first season in the American Athletic Conference.

Knowles redshirted last year and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Houston is 2-0.
