The last time we saw Marshall Henderson on a basketball court, he scored 21 points in an NCAA tournament loss to La Salle. Since then, Henderson failed drug tests and was suspended indefinitely from the Ole Miss program.
On Saturday, Henderson made his 2013-14 debut for the Rebels against Coastal Carolina, despite not being in the starting lineup.
The senior guard finished with 19 points, 14 of those coming in the second half. He was only 6-for-16 from the field, but knocked down four 3-pointers and also had four steals and four rebounds. More importantly, Henderson made a few key plays in the final minutes to help Ole Miss escape with a 72-70 win over the Chanticleers.
Henderson nailed a 3-pointer with 4:04 remaining to give Ole Miss a five-point lead, and followed that up with a steal and dunk. He then hit a free throw with 2:07 left, which gave Ole Miss an eight-point lead.
Henderson will also sit out the first two games of the conference season, which come against Auburn and Mississippi State. He averaged 20.1 points last season for the Rebels.
