Colorado mandates women's game in exchange for Kansas ticket

Kansas State used bacon to get people to a women's basketball game earlier this season. Colorado is using Andrew Wiggins.

For students who wish to see what will be the biggest ticket of the year in Boulder -- the Dec. 7 home game against Wiggins and Kansas -- they'll have to make a trip to watch the women play this Wednesday against Iowa first.

Huh? Yeah, it's a trade-off. You gotta show up for the Iowa-Colorado game Wednesday, and then at the end of the game, you receive your ticket for Kansas-Colorado.

Colorado has the disclaimer up on its site now. And the Buffs' women's team isn't exactly a pushover. They're currently No. 16 in the country (the men are unranked). The university is trying a new way to up attendance for the females.

And if Colorado students think they're gonna be able to dip out at the end of the first half of Wednesday and still make it to the Kansas game, unh-uh. Check the policy:

"You will swipe your Buff OneCard and receive a wristband, which you will need to keep on. Your wristband guarantees you your ticket to the Kansas game. If you leave the Events Center prior to the conclusion of the game, your wristband will be removed. At the conclusion of the women's basketball game, you will be asked to go onto the court to the ticket office representatives where you will be handed your ticket and your wristband will be removed. At the Kansas game on December 7, you will be asked to present your ticket with your Buff OneCard for admittance. Only those students with tickets will be able to attend the Kansas game."

It's a devilish way to ensure a packed crowd for the women's game, but why not? It's resourceful, and anyone that really wants to give the university a shot at winning in both men's and women's hoops will no doubt happily head to the first in order to be there for the second.
