Utah State star Jarred Shaw suspended indefinitely

Utah State big man Jarred Shaw has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, the school announced Monday.

Shaw, a 6-foot-10 senior, is averaging 16.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He is the team's top scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker – all while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 87.1 percent from the free-throw line.

He had 18 points and seven rebounds in a win against Utah Valley over the weekend, meaning he has scored at least 12 points in seven of the team's eight games. Shaw has two double-doubles this season.

Utah State is 6-2 this season, but the Aggies have three games in three days beginning on Thursday: Western Illinois, UC Santa Barbara and Troy. Freshman forward Jalen Moore could see more minutes in Shaw's absence; he is averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 boards in just over 17 minutes a game.
