UConn transfer Rodney Purvis to undergo shoulder surgery

By Matt Norlander | Staff Writer

UConn announced Monday afternoon that redshirt sophomore transfer Rodney Purvis will have shoulder surgery that will require four to five months worth of rehab.

Purvis played last season at N.C. State and averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 25.5 minutes. The surgery on Purvis' torn labrum will allow him to fully recover from a lingering issue "as well as tighten up muscles to stabilize a condition that has bothered Purvis since high school," according to a UConn release.

UConn is 9-0 and plays Stanford at home on Wednesday.
