Kennesaw State coach taking leave of absence

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

As Kennesaw State settles into Atlantic Sun play, it will have to go on without the services of its head coach for an undetermined amount of time.

The school announced Thursday that Lewis Preston "will take a temporary leave of absence from the program due to medical and personal reasons."

Preston is out indefinitely and the school offered no further details on his hiatus. It also said it would offer no other comment on his status. Associate head coach Jimmy Lallathin will take over Preston's post for now. School athletic director Vaughn Williams said in a statement, "We are confident in Jimmy Lallathin taking the reins and moving forward at this time."

The Owls are 3-12 this season and their only win against a Division I opponent came against Chattanooga on Nov. 19. Their next game is Saturday at home against East Tennessee State.
