Former Providence recruit Brandon Austin transferring to Oregon

Brandon Austin, a former top-50 national recruit from the Class of 2013, has committed to transfer from Providence to Oregon, a source told CBSSports.com on Tuesday.

Austin was suspended from Providence this season. He's a 6-foot-6 wing who never actually played for the Friars. He should be eligible at Oregon in December of next season.

247Sports rated Austin as the 48th-best prospect in the Class of 2013.

He was one spot behind Missouri freshman Johnathan Williams III.

Austin is just the latest in a list of Division I transfers to leave a school and subequently decide to settle at Oregon. Joseph Young (Houston) and Mike Moser (UNLV) are two examples on the current roster. They are combining to average 33.0 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Ducks, who are 13-1 and ranked 17th in the Associated Press poll.
