Creighton senior All-American Doug McDermott is not expected to miss a game after an MRI on his left shoulder brought back negative results on any major damage, a source told CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish.
Results from Doug McDermott's MRI are back. Sprained joint. Nothing serious. Should play Sunday vs. Xavier, a source told @CBSSports.— Gary Parrish (@GaryParrishCBS) January 8, 2014
McDermott tweaked his left shoulder during the first half of Creighton's 81-62 win at DePaul Tuesday night. He continued to play, but with some discomfort. McDermott's injury was actually one of two for the Bluejays; senior guard Grant Gibbs went down with an apparent right knee injury and had to be helped off the court. The results of Gibbs' MRI are not yet known.
McDermott is a candidate for Player of the Year to this point in the season, leading the 13-2 Jays with 24.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
