The Toledo Rockets got some run earlier this season for being one of the final teams without a loss. That ended back on Dec. 30, when they got taken out 93-83 at Kansas.
But this team is still certainly a MAC title hopeful, and on Wednesday night it moved to 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the league after a buzzer-beater from a kid name Juice squeezed Toledo to a 67-65 win. It's a well-designed play, as you can see. The inbounds pass from Matt Smith starts by Smith pump-faking the pass, then running along the baseline to get free. He hurls the ball to Nathan Boothe, who's able to snatch the pass and immediately find Julius "Juice" Brown for the winner.
The play is right out of the Bryce Drew playbook, clearly.
Winning shots are always a thrill, but I love one that's executed with such neatness.
