A bad week for Wisconsin and a train wreck of a loss by Villanova has opened the door for Wichita State to move up to the top line of the bracket today. The Shockers have eight RPI top 100 wins, including two against teams in the field (Saint Louis, Tennessee).
Louisville filled two big holes in its tournament resume with a win at Connecticut over the weekend. That gave the Cards their first win over a likely tournament team and also their first win away from home of any significance. The result was a five line move up the bracket.
It wasn't all that long ago that Ohio State, Oregon, Iowa State and Wisconsin were all undefeated. Those teams have now combined to lose 13 games in a row. Oregon's free-fall is the worst of the group. The Ducks have lost four straight, including home games to the Bay Area teams, and most recently at arch rival Oregon State. Oregon fell four lines in today's bracket.
Ohio State has also lost four in a row, including Monday's loss at Nebraska, which was the Cornhuskers' first conference win.
The home loss to San Diego State seems to have been the wake up call that Kansas needed. Since then, the Jayhawks have won five in a row, all against tournament quality teams, and sit atop the Big 12. They have moved up to a 2-seed in the current bracket and are back in play to make a run for the top line.
