Kennesaw State coach to continue hiatus, return next season

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Nearly a month removed from the announcement that its head coach was taking a leave of absence, Kennesaw State sent out another statement on Tuesday that he will not return this season.

Lewis Preston, who has not been with the team since Jan. 2, will be back on the sideline next season. Vaughn Williams, the school's athletic director, said in a statement that the "medical and personal reasons" for his initial time off have led to an extended hiatus.

"I feel that it is in the best interest of Kennesaw State men's basketball that Lewis returns to coaching the team at the conclusion of this season," Williams said. "I have the utmost confidence in this program, and that the current student-athletes, assistant coaches and coach Preston will take this program in the right direction."

Associate head coach Jimmy Lallathin is the interim head coach. The team is 1-6 since Preston left, and 4-18 overall this season.
