Xavier indefinitely suspends freshman Jalen Reynolds

Xavier didn't have a ton of frontcourt depth to start the season, and now it's even thinner at the forward spot. Kamall Richards injured his knee recently, and now freshman forward Jalen Reynolds will be out too.

Head coach Chris Mack announced on Tuesday that Reynolds was suspended indefinitely.

“All of our players have responsibilities greater than basketball,” Mack said. “Any time those responsibilities are not given the appropriate attention, the first thing eliminated to allow them to narrow their focus is basketball. When Jalen can demonstrate he is able to successfully manage those responsibilities, he will re-join our team.”

Reynolds, a 6-foot-9 forward, redshirted last season after joining the Musketeers from Brewster Academy (N.H.). He is a strong and athletic inside player who is active on the glass and can finish inside. However, Reynolds has only played double-figure minutes in one game since December 7.

He is averaging 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds this season.
