Cincinnati moves to No. 12 in the Top 25 (and one)

I've spent more time this morning looking at the Top 25 (and one) than is typically necessary, mostly because of Louisville's loss to Cincinnati on Thursday that dropped the Cardinals to 3-4 against the top 55 of the RPI.

That's not ideal, obviously.

But the Cards are still 3-4 against the top 55 with zero losses outside of the top 45, and the zero losses outside of the top 45 matter. It's the main reason why I'm keeping Louisville in with this update immediately following a loss despite knocking Kentucky out in an update earlier this week immediately following a loss, because the two rivals have comparable wins -- Louisville's 69-38 win over Southern Miss is probably better than most realize -- but the Cardinals have been able to avoid bad losses. Put another way, Kentucky has three losses worse than Louisville's worst loss. So that's my rationale.

You might also notice that I adjusted the order of American teams bunched together.

They're confusing, honestly.

Memphis has won at Louisville, Louisville has won at UConn, and UConn has won at Memphis. So good luck making sense of that. Either way, what I did this morning is take a fresh look at those schools' entire bodies of work, and then I ranked them in the order I believe they should be ranked based on those bodies of work. That's why the order changed.

Anyway ...

The Top 25 (and one) updates every morning and also on Sunday nights.

Here's the latest version:
