California hands No. 1 Arizona its first loss of the season

And two unbeatens remain.

Top-ranked Arizona lost its first game of the season on Saturday, falling to California on a shot by Justin Cobbs with 0.9 seconds left that gave the Golden Bears a 60-58 win.

The Wildcats also suffered a couple of injuries during the game, as power forward Brandon Ashley left in the opening minutes with a foot injury, while guard Nick Johnson hurt his hand but continued to play.

Richard Solomon and David Kravish took advantage of Ashley's absence on the inside, combining for 26 points and 18 rebounds for the Golden Bears. Justin Cobbs had 19 points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Johnson -- who has been the player Arizona has looked to for big shots all season -- was just 1-for-14 from the field.

Syracuse and Wichita State are the lone undefeated teams left. The Orange are likely to move to No. 1 on Monday.
