More on college basketball rankings: Parrish's Top 25 (and one)
After a two-month run atop the polls, the expected happened Monday afternoon when Arizona was bumped from the top spot in favor of the still-undefeated Syracuse Orange. Jim Boeheim's team is the unanimous vote-getter for first place this week. It's the first time since 2010-11, when Duke was the unanimous pick, that a team's received all first-place votes.
This is the 15th time Syracuse has earned top billing in the AP poll.
The Wildcats only dropped to No. 2, and that ranking reflects ballots that were submitted prior to the late-Sunday night news bulletin of Arizona losing starting forward Brandon Ashley for the rest of the season.
Connecticut, Virginia and Gonzaga, which received mention in the preseason AP poll, are all back in the rankings this week. The biggest jump in the polls came from Texas, which is up six spots.
- Syracuse (65)
- Wichita State
- San Diego State
- Michigan State
- Saint Louis
- Iowa State
- Oklahoma State
Jumped in: Virginia, Gonzaga, UConn
Dropped out: Wisconsin (14), UMass (21), Ohio State (24)
This will be updated with the Coaches Poll as it becomes available.
